London Community Mediation Services
London Community Mediation Services (LCMS) is a representative collective of not for profit community mediation services from across the Greater London area.
LCMS has been established to provide a forum for community mediation services in London to:
- Support, maintain and develop independent community mediation services;
- Promote mediation to policy makers and local communities as a response to conflict;
- Promote a wider understanding of mediation and its benefits; - Lobby on issues relevant to community mediation;
- Share information and experience, through meetings, the LCMS members' e-mail group and any other relevant means;
- Organise London Mediators’ Day; - Influence the development of quality standards and competencies in community mediation;
- Develop ways of working co-operatively across London boroughs.
Collectively, as at 2011, LCMS members:
- Have over 150 years experience of dealing with community mediation cases in London;
- Provide access to over 270 professionally trained local volunteer community mediators;
- Dealt with over 1850 enquiries, 1185 cases and 3120 clients in 2010/11;
- Cover the majority of London boroughs;
- Provide access to various forms of mediation, including neighbour/neighbourhood mediation, peer mediation in schools, restorative justice, workplace mediation, family mediation.
